Daniellow has been bringing a visceral approach or human-ness to sound production for about 18 years. Upon discovery of the French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 2002, he has been asking, “How would this be in the state of nature?” ever since. Whether in his roots engineering in studio, or now production sound mixing, in practical terms, what the “state of nature” meant and continues to mean is space, openness, intimacy, or believability to every recording…every scene.
